It is currently produced and one of the higher quality scopes produced by that company. It has a tough main tube,..strong adjustment integrity, and fully multi-coated lenses.

For a strict hunting rifle,..there is probably little more you could ask for. The price sounds pretty decent as well.

why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....
    Got Balistics?

Don't forget that the LPS, along with some of Leupold's target scopes, use a 30mm maintube so your existing scope mounts won't work unless they are 30mm (if you don't know, then they are most likely 1"). That is a good price on it, they retail for up to a grand. Considering you could only barely buy a new Vari-X III for that money I'd jump all over it if that's what you're after. If I had the money I'd be tempted to.

I tell you, if you run on a deal on an LPS scope, jump on it. Thats one of the best scopes you can get.

Leupold LPS @ $500...? Wait any longer, and I'll buy it. I'm not known as a rabid fan of Leupold for many reasons, but it's a sturdy, high quality model they built (with help from Leica).
A VXII is less than a VXIII, and a VXIII is less than an LPS.
The LPS @ $500 is about equal in price to the VXIII.
Paying for a Chevy, getting a Cadillac.
What's the guys phone # that has it???

Merry CHRISTmas & A Happy Healthy New Year!

If this is the 3.5-14-x50 with the side focus, that is a great buy. I sold a used one on ebay about a month ago with rings in excellent condition for $775.00. They did have an older verion of this scope that was a 3.5-14x52 with the regular AO. They don't bring as much money. Gander mountain was selling out old stock of them NIB for $700.00. However even at $500 for that model is still a good price.
