777-vs-Pyrodex.....volume?
I recently got a box of 50 grain "Hogdens 777" pellets and noticed the size is a smaller than that of the 50 grain Pyrodex pellets....does the performance or pressures change?...hate to resight my rifle if there is a difference.

777 was designed more to meet the specs of black powder (and thus meet the velocity similiarities). My rifle went all over the place swapping back and forth between them. I went back to pyrodex simply because they are much cheaper. I do think the 777 is the best muzzleloader powder available (aside from smokeless powder in the Savage) 0 -
tried both in my Encore , they did NOT shoot to the same point of aim 6-8inches difference up and down 0 -
Thanks for the info....think I'll stick to my Pyrodex till this deer season is over. Get it re-sighted next season with 777. 0 -
Better try 777 loose for best accuracy, I ran poll on another site for "best accuracy" and loose 777 won by a 2 to 1 margin over all over options. This has been my experience as well. 0
