Winchester Semi-Auto Shotguns

I am partial to Winchester semi-auto shotguns. Have a model 1400 and have seen the 1500 and Super X's. According to the Gun Trader's Guide, Winchester also made a "Ranger" semi-auto. I have a Ranger 1300 pump but have never seen a semi-auto, either here or at any gun shows. Has anyone?

Also, the 1400 has a 3 shot capacity (2 in the mag, 1 in the pipe). Am considering a 1500, which has a 5 shot capacity. Does anyone know if the barrels are interchangeable. I am fairly certain they aren't with the Super X's.

    Good question... I dunno the answer, but the Winchester 1400's really are great guns. They are certianly reliable and well designed for their time.

    Answer to first question,... Yes, Winchester has a "Ranger" semi-auto shotgun and it is a Model 140. I have a Winchester Model 140, 12 gauge. Answer to second question, Yes, the barrels are interchangable. I know because I have several different barrels for Model 140. I have both, a Model 1400 and a Model 1500 barrels that I use on my 140.

    Thanks for the information. By the way, does the 140 "Ranger" have a 3 or 5 shot capacity? I believe the 1500 does, and I love the jeweled bolt.

    I live in Virginia and the hunting laws state that a shotgun hold no more than 3 shells. So almost all shotguns in Virginia have a plug in the magazine to limit the number of shells. I do not know the laws for other states.

    I'm in Michigan. Mag. capacity for deer hunting is 5. For wing shooting it's 3, so I also have to plug the gun for pheasant and turkey season.

    By the way someone just sold a 1400 on this site with all 3 chokes for $150. From the pix, it looked to be in excellent shape. Even with shipping and FFL fee that seemed like a pretty good deal.
