Sam Holt Arms Co.

I have a old side by side 10ga. made by Sam Holt Arms Company,and I would like to find out any info on it. I have searched many places and can not find any info.The only other writing on it is between the barrels and it is-Belgium Laminated Steel- it also has rabbit ear hammers.

    Your shotgun was an inexpensive damascus barreled, Belgian shotgun that was sold by Sears Roebuck in the early years of the 20th Century.

    There commonly know as "Hardware Guns", with no great collectors value.

    Since the barrels were fabricated in the Damascus manner, there not safe to shoot and commonly used as wall decorators.

    About the only thing I can add is thet I'd remove "great" from the Rufe post above.

    These pieces are wallhangers at best. They're considered unsafe to shoot with any load unless inspected by a qualified smith and totally unsafe with anything other than black powder.

    Value - Next to nothing as a gun. Sometimes as high as $200.00 for those who have more cash than brains and want a wall decoration. Maybe you'll get lucky.

    It was a common ploy for these guns to be marked with an approximation of a manufacturer of quality firearms, thus giving the inexperienced customer the impression that he was getting a "brand name", when he wasn't.
    "Sam Holt" would have been mistaken for "Sam Colt", for instance.
    About a year ago, I had an interesting debate with a youngster who had inherited his great-grandfather's break-open single-shot 12-guage, which was stamped "Barker". It was his contention that it was custom-made in England for his great-grandfather by Parker Bros. Ltd., and he just didn't want to hear anything else.
