Gibbs .45/70 Carbine
Basically a .303 "Jungle Carbine" configuration re-done to .45/70. Three round detachable box and it weighs 8#+ so it should handle the shorter barrel recoil better than it's lighter cousins. Question is does anyone have any experience with this weapon or, more generally, with Gibbs? Always wanted a more modern type rifle in this caliber. Thoughts and comments appreciated.

I don't have a 45-70 conversion but I have a 45-70 Marlin and an original No. 5 Jungle Carbine in .303 British. The Jungle Carbine has a very stout recoil and the 45-70 Marlin is even stouter. I can't imagine what a 45-70 would feel like with a metal butt plate in that little Jungle Carbine.
