short shotgun barrel
is it leagle to have a shotgun barrel under 18" if its not on a gun & just hanging on the wall for decor cause its old?

Minimum legal bbl.length is 18"(rifle 16").
Must be 26" minimum overall length.
As far as just the bbl.? Not sure.As long
as you don't possess the rest of the gun,
or another like it that it could be swapped to,
it may be ok,but don't quote me on that.I'm sure
someone will get us straight on that.

thanks Bobbywins, good ta hear from you, i do have a gun it will fit but of course i have more than leagle length barrels on it, just wondering if i should destroy them ( 90+ yrs old ) or just hang 'em in the den fer looks

I think I wouldn't have asked the question in the first place...
That being said, I don't believe the Feds are very interested in stopping by to chat with you because you have the bad taste to have a couple of water pipes hanging on your wall.

Technicaly,what you have is all the components to
an illegal weapon(sawed off shotgun in this case).
But as nord said,unless you carelessly advertise the
fact that you have it,or decide to put the short barrel
on the other gun,you shouldn't have a problem.However,
if a stranger is at the door,that would be the first
thing I would hide![;)]

Call up BATF and ask them. You could also advise them the barrel is inert ( plugged OR welded shut ) and you are only using it for decor. 0 -
