Savage/Anschutz

Ok,I'm bored,so I'll reveal a little
of my ignorance at this time.Was in
a Pawn Shop a couple of days ago and
looked at a Mark 12.It appears to be
original,except for some shade-tree
custom work,just in front of the butt-
plate.Has micrometer rear sight and to tell
the truth,I think the frt.sight was of the
typical blade configuration.Overall,I'd say
about 90% except for the buttstock.I know
just about zero about these Anschutz guns
and the Gun Traders Guide doesn't show it.
Their wanting almost $400 for it which seems
high to me(but their known for that).What do
you folks think?

    Your rifle was made on the German Anschutz action and imported for sale by Savage in the U.S., available from 1963 to 1981. I think the one you are looking at is worth in the neighborhood of $250, considering the "custom" stockwork.

    Great rifle for starting out in small bore at a most reasonable rate. The front sight from the factory had various inserts which could be easily fitted and removed depending on the shooter's choice. If in fact the one at which you are looking has a blade sight it has been seriously messed up. You should recive a little white box with the weapon which has six or seven different inserts. Depending on the number of small bore leagues in your local area I'd say you should pay between gebirgsjager's $250 and $325. Anything more than that is getting a little too high and I would advise you to get a Remington 541X if you are getting into the $400-$450 price range. The 541 is much more more of an adult weapon than the Savage Anschutz. Beach
