Swift Scopes???????????

Does any body have one or has had one???? What do you thnk of them???

    Hi Chuck,
    We have sold Swift scopes for several years at our shop. The company has been manufacturing optics since the 20's. (Boston ?) They are big with the birding and astronomy folks. They started with the scopes 6-10 years ago. They actually have good glass for the money and are about the only company that offers a "over the counter" replacment.
    We have sold hundreds and have had a normal amount come back, no more than any other manufacture I should say.
    I have had people say they stand up to the magnum's better than most!

    Among birders, Swift optics are considered "economy." I believe they are made by Celestron, which makes some pretty decent binoculars for the price, sold under several labels like Sears used to do with firearms.

    I have two Swift scopes and for the money, they are a pretty good buy. They are clear and bright, they have stood up to recoil for four years now and they don't loosen up. I like them! Plus the warranty is great too should you ever need to replace one.

    We started selling these scopes this year and we have done extremely well with the line. They are extremely clear and I have had peple choose them over Leupold in side by side comparison. They are worth the $$ and yes they offer an over the counter return which is nice.

    I put one on my dad's .22 rem auto. Was very pleased with the clarity and seemed to sight in quickly. The price was very good at the time (10 or 12 yrs. ago. Time flies) and the general look of the thing compared to the cheap Tasco's ect. I have not had one on a large bore.

    I tried one and it worked fine except for shadows on a bright day. I watched a buck with it's rack in the brush for 35 minutes and could not get a clear look at the rack. I could see the rack better with just my eye than with the swift scope. Finally just shot the deer and it was not something I would have shot if I had a better look (still tasted good).

    I went off the deep end after that and bought Schmidt&Bender and Swarovski scopes. World of difference.[8D]

    For a midrange scope I would go the Nikon Monarch. Much better optics. Leupold is also very good but more pricey. Zeiss conquest is supposed to be the best for the money.

    Guns&Glass is the expert upon optics. Give him a hollar!
    I am user friendly with Leupold but that is my call. I do own a pair of Swift Binoculars-purchased back in the days of Herter's. Good optics but not great. My .02 cents. 101

    [^] I've got one on my Ruger MKII Gov't Model. It was harder to dial in than I expected, but it is consistent and that's what counts.

    I have a 2.5 Swift mounted atop a T/C Contender with a 30/30 Win barrel. It works just fine in all weather and is clear.

    Thanks Guy's. I just picked up a Remington 7mm Mag and am going to try one of them Swift's, After I get it back from Remington service center the Ejector is stuck in.[:0][:0][:0]
