Value of a NIB Belgium Browning A5 Light 12

Hello,

I have a new Belgium from around the year of 62 or 63 it is the model A5 light twelve. Can anyone give me an idea of its value. Box is in perfect condition and gun is flawless.

    Look for one of the following on the left side of the barrel near the receiver frame...

    Browning choke designations:


    Cyl (true cylinder) ***
    Skeet (improved cylinder) **$
    Imp Cyl (quarter) **-
    Mod (half) **
    Imp Mod (three quarter) *-
    Full (full) *

    (English designation)

    bg - While you are looking over the choke and barrel length, mention whether or not it has a raised rib running the length of the barrel. That is a significant asset. You might post an abbreviated serial number as well. It is on the underside of the receiver, forward of the magazine loading port. Feel free to substitute xxx space fillers for last three numerals.

    I checked and the barrel length is 28" it is also vent ribbed. The barrel said special steel on it and 2 3/4 for shell size I assume.

    bg - You've got an extremely appealing package. Bert has identified the Browning choke code for you - essentially a combination of asterisks (*) and some other marks - and generally speaking the more open chokes are more desirable than the full choke. I suspect you've already gotten some direct emails in response to this shotgun. That A5 series (12's, 16's and 20's) is considered by many to be the yardstick for automatic shotguns and at the upcoming gunshow this week-end in New Orleans I believe your gun would trade in the area of $1000+. I have come to understand that the Belgian Light 12 may trade at a higher price here in south Louisiana than in some other places and I have found Blue Book estimates to be a bit lower than my experience in this region. Peruse the GB auctions for a feel of the market. Good luck with that gun. I for one would very much like to see it. Best regards, Jim
