colt never in production 1 of a kind 22cal.

    Definitely strange.

    However, it is most likely based on the Colt Model 4 derringer (made 1959-1963), since it is .22 cal. (Models 1-3 were .41 rimfire.) Making the over-sized stocks would have been easy, but I can't figure out how an "extension" was added to the barrel. I'd like to see the serial # & barrel markings.

    The seller says it is all Colt, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it was made or altered by the Colt Custom Shop. (Model 4's were made FOR Colt, not BY Colt.) I think that this is one of those cases where a Colt factory letter would be necessary in order to determine that it left the Colt factory as it now appears.

    WOULD SURE NEED TO SEE FACTORY LETTER AND SERIAL NUMBER. GUN LOOKS LIKE A 60'S MODEL.

    I've seen these before in a 2 gun set in a presentation case. Made from potmetal. Real junk. $500??? A fool and his money are soon parted!

    I wouldn't want to pay that for a "Jackalope!" But, I'm sure the owner wants to be paid for his work.....looks like he might get paid by someone who doesn't "have a clue"........... Soon parted? Yep!

    I emailed him and requested a photo of a factory letter, or some form of justification that it is a one of a kind colt. I have absolutely no intention of buying it.

    This sure looks like the two gun collectors set issued by
    Colt in the 60's. I had it, in a nice case, but the value
    never appreciated like I thought it would. I sold the whole
    works for lots less than the $500 offered. Wish I had them
    back. That bidder would get them both!!
