S&W titanium .38 problem
Have a S&W .38 model 342. I shot it off the bench at 12 yards and it shoots about 8 inches low. I used Hydoshock in to bullet weights. I shot some old ball ammo, same point of impact. Sent it into the factory. They said they put a lower front sight on it although it looked the same. Still shoots low. Factory said it shot fine there. Offered to put another barrel on it. Has anyone had similar problems?

I would go ahead and do as they suggested and have the front sight lowered or just when I'm sighting my target raise the front sight a little in the rear notch.

I would suggest letting someone else shoot the gun, this would elimate your hold, or sight picture as the problem. If someone else shoots low as well, then of course its the gun.

A friend fired the gun and it shot low for him too. The group size was poor, about 6 inches at 12 yds. from a bench rest. I have the aluminum frame S&W which shoots right on and shoots a 2 inch group at 12 yards from the bench.
I bought this as new for $375 and have seen a couple others sell that low also. I am wondering if the poor group and shooting low is the reason or if it is the recoil which is quite significant. Thank you for the replies!0 -
I'd be sending it to Smith, with a target and a letter. I would expect them to fix it for free, if it has never been "gunsmithed".
If you don't want the hassle... what would you take for it?

I was hoping to hear from someone who had one of these and fired it to see if they had a similar problem. I think I would sell it for what I have in it, $375 plus $25 shipping to ffl. 0 -
Love these little revolvers. Had no problems with my Titaniums: I have or have fired the 38 Spcl, 357, and the 44 Spcl.
They are light and you must have a solid hold to keep the top of the front sight level with the 'bridge' of the rear sight.
