Mfr. date of Savage 99EG?

I'm looking at a Savage 99EG and would like to know if I am able to purchase it out of state with my C&R license. Ser. number is 6656XX. Thanks for any help. Emery

    1951 or later. It appears that there are no existing records of 99 dates of manufacture after about 1950.

    My source only goes up to ser# 566,000,
    which went through 1950.So,yours was
    made 1951 or later.Guess this will narrow
    it down somewhat.

    Pre-WWII type.Solid frame.Plain pistol-grip stock and forearm.
    Made 1936-41

    Model 99EG (II).........NiB $531 Ex $425 Gd $289
    Post-WWII type.same as prewar model,except w/checkered stock
    and forearm.Calibers:250 Sav.,300 Sav.,308 Win.(intro 1955),
    243 Win., and 358 Win.Made 1946-60.

    Guess I am out of luck for a direct purchase with my C&R license as this particular Savage is in 300 Savage and has the checkered stock and forearm. Since the serial numbers only go through 1950, the seller says FFL only, and rightfully so if he is to protect himself. Thanks to you all for taking the time to research and reply; I appreciate it. Emery
