flintlock markings
I recently bought at auction an odd flintlock. It is a left-handed rifle with these markings and would like any info anyone may have of the gun's origin.
Lock is marked...challier sepericord
davru--e..or davrl--e...Paris
may also be cialler..sepericord
anyone having any thoughts on this marking will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Forums: If You will Post a Photo and give a complete and total discription, I/We may be better able to help You...Its understood that you have an early French Rifle....and Left Hand means it was Custom Built for a Nobleman of some Rank..as Civilians were not allowed to bear Arms in much of continintal Europe...Then perhaps this particular Arm was made for an individual who just happened to be passing thru that way and happened by a Gun Shop and Bought it or had it Made...before traveling on to another Continent....Perhaps We'll never know...? If You will Take Photos of the Proof Marks and Numbers and along with a discription something might be learned.......Best.....
