Largest .410 gauge shot size available??

Does anyone know what the largest (not counting slugs and buckshot) shot size is thats available in .410 gauge shells? What brand? Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks!

    Federal, Classic Lead Hi-Brass, Mfg. # H413-4, 3" shell, 11/16 oz. shot.
    Winchester, Super-X High Brass Game Loads, Mfg. # X4134, 3" shell, 11/16 oz. shot.
    Remington, Express Extra Long Range, Mfg. # SP4104, 2 1/2" shell, 1/2 oz. shot. Express Extra Long Range, Mfg. # SP4134, 3" shell, 11/16 oz. shot.

    As was said, no. 4 is the largest size although #5 was very common up till 30 years ago and stilll turns up at gunshows. As a long time .410 user I strongly suggest that you stay away from anything larger than 6 and 6 is not a good choice. If you take the time to pattern it you'll not want to waste your money on 4,5 or 6. People say 7 1/2 is too small but inside 27 yards it really doesn't matter beecause the velocity is very close to the larger shot and outide 30 yards you don't have the density in any shot charge to be sure of a clean kill with the .410 I use #8 on pheasants and squirrels and never take shots beyond 28 yards. I hunt where there's lots of game so I can be patient and wait for a sure shot. Otherwise I'd use a bigger guage.

    Thanks guys! One more thing-

    A guy i know told me in Illinois it is illegal to even buy .410 Slugs, i say its not, but ive never tried to buy them so i guess i cant say for sure. Whats the scoop?

    Not being from, nor ever having been to, Illinois, I can't say what is legal/illegal there. It's perfectly legal to buy and use .410 slugs here (Oregon).[:)]

    CWinn!! Hi. I'm in Illinois and it IS LEGAL to buy them. In fact our Wal-Mart had them in boxes of 25 for $5 which is a good deal. IT IS NOT LEGAL to hunt deer with them and that's probably how you got the idea that they couldn't sell them. I reload and put #4 buck in the shells just to play around with and it would be a dangerous load (for the target) inside 20 yards. Then again, at close range so is bird shot.

    there are some russian made steel cased #3's on the market. I have some 000 buck also.
