22 jet ammo?

Is there a market for 22 jet ammo? A friend of mine has quite a bit of it for sale and we really do not know if there is a market for it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Haven't seen much application for it in recent years. I seem to remember S&W building a revolver (Mod 52?) chambered for it but it having problems with case setback because of the heavy taper of the Jet cartridge.

    I think the cartridge fits a model 53 S&W rather than a model 52. Someone will want the ammo.

    I have a Model 53, and the brass is hard to find. So I made some out of .357 brass. Advertise it here on GB and you will sell it.

    JJ, while it has little collector value unless the boxes are in absolutely mint condition, as shooters, this typically sells for $40 - $50 a box, sometimes a bit more. Unless your friend is in a hurry, I'd hold out for the $50, either at auction or at a show.There were not many revolvers made, but the ammo has been discontinued for some time. While it can be made from .357 Mag brass as noted by another poster, the process requires expensive case forming tools and is time consuming; with a little patience, he will get the $50.

    Thanks for the info. He had decided to sell it for $1 a round before I posted this but he asked me to post the question to make sure he is not out of line on price. He has both soft point and hollow point in it. Do not know exactly how much he has but he said it was a good bit. He bought out an estate ammo collection from the estate of a man who had 200+ guns. There were 500+ boxes of different types of ammmo. There was a lot of 22 jet. Again thanks and I will see him Monday to see how much of it he has.

    we still stock the REMINGTON .22 REM. JET 40 gr soft point. we sell about 10 boxes a year, and we charge $35.00 per box. older, original, vintage boxes will command much more. most of our .22 REM JET sales consist of custom handloads on empty brass built to customers specs. best regards, mike.

    Well there you see the other reason I don't buy rem jet ammo. There is no way I'd pay that much for ammo. It's much cheaper for me to modify .357 brass. I have the system down, and being retired time isn't an issue.
