Opinions Please-- Kimber Gold Match 1911

I am in the process of buying a new Kimber Gold Match .45 in stainless steel.( by mail order) I have heard nothing but favorable comments about Kimbers but they are a scarce commodity here in Canada.I have never had one "in the hand."Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.Many thanks--

    Kimbers are good the problem is there hi-end gun carry a custom price and are still a production grade. They are a hi-end production but still production grade. I would spend the extra few bucks and go totaly custom there are some quality custom makers Nowlin, Les Baer and Rock River make very tight and high quality pistols. I build sub 2" guns but can not match there pricing. If I weren't a Gunsmith I would go to them as well for my next 1911!!

    IMHO, if it is a Series I Kimber then by all means go for it. If it is a Series II Kimber, then it is your call. I am not all that happy with their decision to go the CYA route. I think lawyers can really foul things up in their attempt to provide CYA to gun makers. If you don't believe me, then ask Kimberkid what he thinks about the Series IIs.

    An earlier poster mentioned that these are production guns and he is right, but they are some othe best production guns made for the price and they function flawlessly. My SuperMatch Series 1 so accurate it is scary, 2" groups at 25 yards. I think that is all I have to say on the subject.

    Boomer, go for Series 1 if you can find them.
