Ruger Mini 14 Gun Value

I recently acquired a Ruger Mini 14. It is a 181 series gun, blue finish, real wood stock. I was told that this is a pre-ban gun and that in the shape that it is in (very good) it should be worth about $500. Is this correct? What makes it a pre-ban gun? Anything else special about the 181 series?

  I believe the 181 series dropped the band on top of the stock....

  If it is comming with the original 20 or 30rd Ruger mag add $100.00 to the price. With the original 5rd mag it is worth about $375.00 in real good condition.

  I just sold one today for 850.00
  Folder, flash suppressor, bipod, bushnell lite scope and three 30rnd'rs, blue and black parkerized.
  
  I've read the post on minis--pre ban yada yada. It was built before the AWB so I guess that makes it a pre ban--(just to be difficult)
