.45 acp reloads
Got a question for the fellow .45 reloaders out there. When I was a little kid I used to reload .45 for my father when he shot competitions. Few months back I purchased a Colt Defender and totally love it. I went back into the garage and started reloading. I was loading 180 gr and 200 gr SWC heads with 4.0 gr of Bullseye powder. My father uses the same load in his modified 1911 for his matches. When we got out to the range I noticed when my father shot my defender with my 180gr loads I saw the friggin bullet go down range. Almost looked like a silver tracer! Now in his government model we did not notice this. Only difference is you can group with his pistol, mine is not as accurate with much shorter barrel. What kind of load would you suggest for my pistol? I was thinking using 230 grain heads next time I load.

There is nothing wrong with using the 200 grain semi wadcutter heads. I use them on top of 4.6 of Win 231 powder. If you are standing off to the side while the other person shoots, you may be able to see the bullet as it heads to the target.

Was the sun at your back? As Chris said if you stand to the side or behind and the sun is just right they shine all the way to the target. We were shooting hot 41 Mag loads at some boulders about 100 yards away and had the same results. They looked like silver streaks ending in puffs of rock. Cool.
