What can anybody tell me about the Remington model 710 in a 30-06?

    I was looking at one of these yesterday, and it seems like a decent rifle for the price. Anyone have any good or bad feedback on these? Also, can they be loaded through the ejection port like the Remington 700, or does the magazine have to be completely removed for loading?

    I had one for about 3 weeks. It was a piece of crap. Id buy a used 700 over that thing

    The 710 kinda like a disposable camera...take $370 outta of your pocket, crumble it up into small ball's, pour lighter fluid on them then put a match to'em, it's about the same as buying a rem 710 ....but heck it's your money!

    I know a guy who shot a nice buck with his, leaned the 710 against a tree and dragged the deer 700 yards up hill to his truck.
    He was pooped out, looked back down toward his rifle and muttered "Hell, it just ain't worth it".

    Like the throw-away cameras,- what would your kids think of you if you left them a 710 when you die?

    I asked him how he could afford to leave a $350 rifle like that.
    He said it's used, has a couple scratches on the barrel and the dealer offered him only $60 as a trade-in. He wouldn't have gone back down there right then for twice that.

    It seems they aren't selling very well. I think YOU GUYS have been bad-mouthing them and hurt sales.
    All I had to do was read the description of them in the ad and decide I wouldn't want one at any price.

    I hear the 710's are being dropped from Rems lineup. That ought to make getting parts a little tougher. Save your nickels and buy a 700.

    Hell, you cant get parts now, they made me send back the entire rifle to fix the mag catch. Sent it to BFE, kentucky or something, and they claimed they had to test fire it and everything. I sold it right after I got it back.

    The 30-06 caliber seems to not hold it's value very well either. Those and .243s will tend to sell a little cheaper (used) than the same model gun in a different caliber.
