remington rand 1911

Where can I get a slide stop/release(whatever you want to call it) for a remington rand, 1911, .45? The pistol is entirely original and I want an original piece to replace the broken one. Thanks.

  I inherited a 1911 that the serial # dates to 1919. It has a remington rand slide on it. Question is : Are all the slides interchangeable and is there any benefit to swapping for the correct one? There is nothing special about the gun. Just curious...........

  It is not possible to import them legally. Period.
  
  Penalty for trying is up to 10 years in federal prison, $250,000 fine.

  Out of curiosoty what is preventing an old Remington Rand 1911 from being imported?

  Actually, it is an executive order issued by Bill Clinton. It prohibits the importation of any US-issue military firearm (except by the US Govt). This could be reversed by the stroke of a pen (by President Bush). But, it won't be.
