i know this is a gun forum but can you help?

i have a bow shooting problem i am a left eye domante and shot right handed ( with bow) how can i fix this is there a bow out there to help in this because i know that i am not the only one if this does not belong here at gunbroker please close it as i dont want to be out of place but i thought as many hunters thats here they might could help the only thing that i have found was to use very! long sight pins anyone have a idea?[?]

    Waaay back when I was shooting, the answer was to learn to shoot left-handed.

    I too have that problem. Some 40 years ago, when my dad was teaching me about firearms and to shoot, he taught me to shoot right handed. Being primarily a shotguner, I was always using my right eye, so it took a lot of years and shells to become an average shot. side shots on birds were always my worst. About 20 years ago, I was reading about shotgun shooting and the author was very specific about keeping both eyes open while sighting and shooting. It took some practice to over ride what dad had taught me, plus now I pick my shots more when dove or waterfowl hunting. Keeping both eyes open has helped me with a shotgun, I don't know if it will help you with your bow, but it might be worth the try. The only thing I do right handed is shoot a gun. So I know what you must be going through. Regards Dave

    hmmm, may sound funny, but cant you by lefthanded bows? i seem to remember putting the arrow on the left of my grip. im left eye too!

    My wife is left handed, pitches left, shoots right, bats either, and swings at me with an uppercut..[B)] But then she's a blond, green eyed part Cherokee..so go figure[:D] Sorry ,I really can't help, but there must be many with similar problems. Guys?

    They say there are 10% of us w/ the same problem... I shoot handguns & I'm able to shift the gun over & move my head over also, I would think this would work w/ a bow also. When it come to long guns I just bite the bullet & buy lefthand mods. Browning even makes the short actions in LH. now. Maybe it'll force Ruger into it also.

    Do you use a peep sight? This may sound stupid but I have used my left eye to look through my peep sight, just for grins, and shot just fine with my Jennings compound. To me bow and pistol are a lot alike and I can shoot either way. In Fact, bow shooting has taught me to "lead" with my left and allowed we to shoot pistol with either hand or eye. The only problem is that your body is over closer to the string and arm stikes are alot more common. And for Bobski in Bangladesh, yes they do make lefty bows. A lefty is probably in your best interest. I will try and get some links for them.

    Old shooters solution....wear glasses and put a piece of Scotch tape over the left lens. This will force you to use the right eye.

    Rembrandt has the solution. A fellow 4-H coach here had to teach himself to use his right eye to shoot. He was left eye dominate but a nail hit him in it causeing it to go blind. He taught himself how to shoot right handed with his right eye. You can train your right eye to be domenate but it is not easy. One question, being left eye dominate why are you not shooting a left handed bow. It is easier to teach your self to shoot left handed than teach your eye to be the dominate eye. There are all kinds of excellent left hand bows out there.

    dont shoot left handed bow because i am right handed really dont think i could pull a bow back lefthanded have tried but really that was very difficult i shootguns left handed and everything else right yes they make lefty bows but after 41 years and 30 years of bow hunting i have stayed with the very long pins way i just thought that there was a way with todays tech bows that they could help my problem i am a very good shotgunner and rifle shot but my bow is somewhat shaky due to this problem i believe that if i could solve this i would take up tournament shooting with bows along with smacking deer around [;)] thanks for any and all suggestion that you all can come up with as far as both eyes open thats a thought but feel that would be a change that would require alot of work just thought there was some bow made that would help?????????????[?]

    I went through the same thing with my bow and my shotgunning. Right handed, left eye dominate. My solution was to close my left eye and "aim" my gun/bow. I know this is not what is taught or generally advised, but it worked for me. I use the instictive method (no sights)to shoot with the bow. Hope this helps.
