Win Model 12
I have acquired a second barrel assembly (front-end) for my Win M12 16 ga. I am having trouble getting it to fit correctly. It seems the barrel is either too loose or turns too far according to how I set the adjusting sleeve. I even bought a new #6 sleeve from Numerich that is the same number that came with the original shotgun setup. The second barrel assembly came with a #5 slleve, I believe.
When I get the second assembly all aligned, I run out of notches in the adjusting sleeve. It appears that a gunsmith may have to fit it and perhaps put another groove in the right place. The origianl setup was still on the first notch due to minimal use and aligns perfectily/tightly.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Dave

dsphd: This usually takes a gunsmith who know Md 12s, Take your second barrel, put it on the the first setting. Take your first barrel assy and lay it next to the second barrel assy. From the receiver extension, to the edge of the barrel, measure the 1st barrel assy, then the second. They have to be the same length. Not close but identical. They are suppose to be flush with the barrel chamber ring when mated to the receiver. There is little to no tolerance on this. About .002 if I remember right. A gunsmith may have to machine the second barrel assy to the same lenght as the first barrel assy. If you need the name and address of the best Md 12 gunsmith, email me. He use to work in the Winchester Custom shop. Regards Dave 0
