SPRINGFIELD V10 SHOOTS LOW AFTER 1ST SHOT
I have a Springfield v10 that shoots about 6-7 inches low after the first shot (at 7yds) the first shot will be a bullseye and then the rest all fall low. I've used Win. white box 230 gr ball , Fed. 230 hp and Wisconsin Cartridge Co. 230 gr hp +p and had the same result with all three. I had it shooting perfectly before and now I have this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess would be that you are anticipating the recoil after the first shot and pushing the gun down as you squeeze the trigger. The best way to determine if its a problem with the gun or a shooter induced problem is to have an experienced shooter fire the pistol and see if it happens to that person too. I'd bet anything its shooter induced though. I am not critizing your gunhandling, so don't take offense, I am just trying to help you determine whats going on.

No offense taken- it's not me. I can keep all the shots touching with my other 45 (Kimber),the Springfield is actually pretty mild recoiling due to the porting and I regularly shoot my 44 mag and 454 cas. and keep 'em all in the x ring. Also, one of my buddies had the same problem with the V10.

"I had it shooting perfectly before" Before what? The micro compacts are much harder to shoot accurately than the full size models. Check for excessive looseness in the lock-up and battering/elongated muzzle. I have the V-10 Super Tuned and have not had a problem.

im wondering if the bbl is going into full battery after first shot? if its not locked up tight, the bbl wont be aligned in the rear. follow me?

Hello what is happing is when you manualy load the first round your barrel goes into a different resting place than when it loads itself. This is call the flyer. A production gun like your does not lock up tight what. I mean is your barrel feet are cut with in such a manner that when the barrel is in the firing position ther is a gap between the feet and slide stop. Once a gun is loading it's self the barrel finds it's own resting point. Back to the "flyer" depending on the amount of gap between your barrel feet and slide stop will determand where you second shot goes.I hope this is of some help. 0 -

Hmmmm..... Maybe it just needs a good cleaning. Crud that builds up between the slide and barrel lugs can cause lots of weird things to happen. Ported barrels tend to dirty up the barrel/slide lock-up more than non-ported auto barrels.
How many different mags do you use, and do they all give the same result?

How about it , chorkie. Are you putting one in by hand, releasing the slide, and then putting in a full mag to get the extra shot?

I AM USING THE SAME TWO MAGS THAT CAME WITH THE GUN. THE GUN IS CLEAN AND I DO NOT PUT ONE IN AND THEN TAKE THE MAG OUT AND ADD ANOTHER. I SHOT IT AGAIN THIS WEEKEND AND HAVE NOTICED THAT THE SLIDE DOES NOT ALWAYS GO FORWARD ALL THE WAY AFTER THE FIRST SHOT AND IF I PUSH IT FORWARD THIS LAST 1/32 TO 1/16 INCH THAT THE SHOTS ALL GROUP NICELY TO POINT OF AIM AS IT USED TO DO. WHAT WOULD BE CAUSING THIS?

If you bought the gun new I'd let Springfield give it a once over. A little bit of tightening should minimize or eliminate the problem--if the problem is an onset from prior perfirmance something may have loosened up. A 6-7 inch drop ain't normal.
