Ruger 77/17 or ?

I am looking for a highly accurate .17 hmr and am considering the ruger 77/17 laminate stock and bull barrel. I am want this gun for making head shots on squirrels, coyotes, fox, and turkeys. Yes hunting turkeys with a rifle is legal in the great state of Texas.[:D]
Maximum shooting distance 100 yards. Any opinions on this rifle or suggestions on another would be much appreciated. Thanks for the help.

    Welcome to the forum fellow Texan.
    Though I consider myself a "Ruger"
    person,and no doubt,Ruger makes an
    excellent rifle in the mod.77,you might
    want to look at what Savage has to offer.
    Especialy if $$$$$ are an issue.Their
    "out of the box" accuracy is second to
    none(so I'm told).

    Got a Ruger 77/22 that used to be a .22 Mag that I stuck a Green Mountain fluted bull barrel in .17 HMR on. Dead accurate and a real joy to shoot. The BSA Platinum 8x36 scope helps a lot, too!

    I had this dilema as well. They tell me for price the Savage, for all around great rifle, the Marlin, for looks the Ruger. I also looked at a CZ. The CZ has a very,very nice trigger and the bull
    barrel is a little shorter. All of the above can be modified with after market triggers, especially important on the Savage and the Ruger and maybe even the Marlin. I liked the Savage all but the trigger. I finally settled on the Marlin, as at that time it had the reputation and price I could hack.

    Ruger schmooger. Just like the lupies they are overpriced and lack in performance. Havent seen one yet that will outshoot savages heavy barrel offering. And for a couple hundred bucks less. Trigger pull is something that can be easily fixed. And you will still have spent less than what the ruger ss/lam costs.

    I'm going to get the Savage 93 FVSS (stainless/synthetic with heavy barrel). Bass Pro has 'em for about $220.
