Most factory rifles in 30 cal. are 1 in 10 twist, that has worked for YEARS.

    drdoolittle_1,

Use this link for Dan Lilja's site. He has a good chart for twist rates.
    http://www.riflebarrels.com/products/caliber_twist_rates.htm

    And this link for Shilen:
    http://benchrest.com/sst/shilentwist.html

And this link for a great site for general information:

    Best.

I have a mauser with a PH barrel on it that seems to measure about 1 in 15". Shoots really good with 155's and lighter but terrible with 165's and heavier.

My border collie is smarter than your honor student.

1 in 12 twist good for 143-155 grain. 1 in 10 twist good for 160-185 grain. If you are going to shoot 168 grain BTHP match bullets or larger go with 1 in 10. If you are going to shoot military ball ammo or 155 grain Palma bullets go with 1 in 12. If you are not match shooting it doesn't really make a big difference. Beach
