need your advice on which AR-15
for the same $ 750 spent, in the long run do i want the Bushmaster or Rock River ? talking a new,standard A2 model here. for reliability, durability and generally the least number of agrivations, based on your 1st hand experience, what is your opinion?..thanks much

I can't speak for Rock River but I can speak for Bushmaster. I have owned two Bushmasters (16" and 20"). They are fine rifles. I have since sold the 20" but it is still functioning flawlessly. So far I would put up the Bushmaster as good as anyone else has on the market. I have never shot a Rock river yet but have heard good things about them. If you know anyone that has one you might want to try it out. The Bushmaster has done everything that I have asked it to and then some (for a 16" barrel) and if I need real long distances I have already a Springfield M1a so range was never a criteria for me in the first place. Take a look at DPMS Panther arms. Lot's of variations and good prices. They shoot as well as the Bushmaster and then some!

The two I would be looking at would be Armalite and Bushmaster. You will not go wrong with ither. My 2 cents. [8D]

I have a rock river lower, and a mil. spec FN upper with a wilson match barrel. I have no complaints with the lower. I got mine with the 2 stage match trigger, and it is a very nice, two stage trigger, breaking just under 4 lbs out of the box, with no over travel at all.
My upper configuration is very close to what Rock River sells, and mine shoots near 1 MOA, which is all I can ask.
I would go with a 20", as a 16" makes it harder to get decent velocity out of it.
But if the shorter gun is what you need, go a head.0 -

Look at JT distributing. They use good quality parts, shaw barrels, and are reasonably priced. They also have excellent customer service (like they send you replacement lower parts at no charge after you launch yours across the room during assembaly)[:D] 0 -
Between the two, I would go Bushmaster. If nothing else I think it would bring better resale. Also, I am really impressed with what DPMS is doing, and their prices are resonable. (look at the DPMS .308) Get a little extra BANG!

I also have an Armalite and some Colt's also...Bushy is a better value and firearm (in my humble opinion).
I have seen a Rock River. They are okay, but look cheaper...some parts of it do anyway...not standard milspec in appearance really.
Rock River is owned/operated by the ex-wife of Armalite's owner. She started her own AR-type company after the divorce...rumor has it anyway. Not bad rifles though...a friend has one.0 -
ROCK RIVER ROCK RIVER ROCK RIVER. Damn good and tight. They also build 1911's top drawer company!!! I do not think the x-wife of Armor lite has any thing to do with Rock River. They started out building 1911's then came AR's. Rock River bought out an existing AR maker(I just can not put my finger on it right now) that gave them there start in the AR's. Chuck at Rock River use to be partners with Les Baer in the begining and they parted way's. Les says he fired him but how do you fire a partner lol. Les builds good gun but is a little strange or eccentric!! 0 -
i will throw in my 2 cents for the bushmaster. i have the limited run mossyoak camo version. it digests any type of ammo. further, the tech support from bushmaster is excellent. i recently emailed bushy with some questions and the tech. dept. was prompt with their reply.
if you are looking for an ar with a higher resale value, the colt is in the lead. i really dont think colt is any better than the bushy or RR, its just the name.0
