Strongest 10mm semi auto
OK - What is the strongest 10mm auto on the market today? A 1911 type? Maybe the S&W? The Glock? You tell me. Thanks for the input. [8D]

I'd say the Thompson Center single-shots would be the strongest, and the 610 is probably the strongest 10mm repeater, but they're not autos like you asked... Hmmm, I love my Glock 20 and I think it is strong, but I don't think I'd try going above Norma recommended loads in it. I have a Kimber 10mm and it too is very strong, it could possibly be the strongest type made, but considering that it was originally designed to handle only the .45 acp I don't think it is the strongest. The S&W FBI version 1076 is my next 10mm purchase, and though it is strong, and is designed to handle full-powered Norma loads, I think the finish product is really aimed more for the reduced 10mm loads. Oddly enough, off the top of my head I might say the strongest design might be the E.A.A. Witness (based of the CZ-75). I don't know how good Tangfolio's quality control is however, so I don't know if the strong design will equate to a strong finish-built firearm.
I'd have to give the original Bren Ten the nod for the least strong 10mm ever sold, and I say that as a previous owner of one. [V]

People will jump on this on, so here goes: I have two Colt Delta Elites. No cracked slides no premature wear and no problems whatsoever. The Glocks will Kaboom on you ( so far only one at the range but I say one too many). The Witness line has intrigued me but I only have experience with the .45 and the .40 so I have to disqualify myself on that one. The S&W 1006 seemed like a good quality gun but I have never shot one. And of course you have the Father of 10mms the Bren Ten. In order of What I know personally I would put them this way:
1. Bren Ten
2. Colt Delta Elite
3. Springfield Omega
4. Witness
5. Smith and Wesson
6. Glock.
3,4,5 are based on what I have heard from other people and some law enforcement officers reports, 2 & 6 are from direct experience.

[:o)]My buddy had to send his Colt DE back after the frame and slide cracked using factory Norma ammo. He promptly peddled the replacement that Colt's sent him and got out of the 10mm business altogether. The 1076 S&W is probably the strongest, but I wonder if any reasonably sized carry gun can be expected to stand up to thousands of full-house 10mm loads without scattering eventually. 0 -
Royc, I'll have to dispute with ya on the Bren... They are argueably the worst 10mm ever made (still cool, but NOT well built). I had one for a while and wish I still did, but I think it'd be relegated to collection only and not a shooter... It's a shame too because it's based off the same design as the Witness is (that's why I wonder about your 1 rating and 4 rating for essentially the same gun).
I've shot at least a thousand rounds in my Glock 20, but probably not much more than that. No signs of letting up however, and it hasn't let me down. That said, I don't think it's the strongest made (as I've already stated) 10mm either.0 -
The Peter Stahls slides (Springfield Omega) are pretty beefy compared to the Colt, I'd be surprised if one could crack. The original post did say 10mm's on the market today, so that probably eliminates the Omega. I've never had any problems with mine, but haven't put large numbers of rounds through it either. Wish they still imported these. 0 -

The strongest auto would have to be the MP5/10. But that's not a pistol. 0 -

rsnyder55 said it all in his post. The MP-5/10 is one nice 10mm. I have not had the opportunity to shoot one as of yet, but on a few occasions, I got to take a long look at one. We had an ATF agent doing some ride time with the ambulance service that I work for. I got started talking "guns" with him one night and he offered to show me "a couple" of guns in his car. He had five or six guns in his trunk, but the one that stood out most was the MP-5/10. That thing was awesome!!! It was hard to work the rest of the night without drooling. I have three 10mm's. A S&W 1076, Glock 20 & 29. I'd have to say that I like the G-20 the best. I buy most of my ammo from Georgia Arms for $92.50 for 500 rounds. For 10mm ammo, that is a steal. Had no problems with the ammo either.
