Muzzle Brake?

I'm looking to get a muzzle brake for my AK-47, which one would yall recommend. The barrel is not threaded.

    What purpose does it serve? Is it a flash suppressor, of sorts? Does it act like a ported barrel, to reduce recoil? And, why are some adjustable>

    The pin-on side brakes (AK74 style) are one of the more effective muzzlebrake designs for the AK, but be advised, they are LOUD![;)]

    They have some here on GB for the Chinese AK's. If you have another make you might ask Dotcomguy here on the forums, he deals in accessories like that.

    one way this can be solved on post ak's is to take a standard 14mm threaded brake and file the threads out and weld it on your rifle wile standed slant brakes are kinda standard for 762 x 39 you can also punch the threads out the 74 30 caliber style breaks and be welded on 5.56 and 5.45 x 39 models for exact 74 breaks and u.s. made copies your gonna have to deal with 24 mm threads and may have to use an adaptor to use an exact brake with your rifle and then most adasptor go from 14 mm to 24 mm and 14mm to 22mm or from 1/2-28 mm to 24mm not just be sure you still have enough u.s. made parts to be compliat to sec .922
