    That was made around 1965. It came in a blue 2-piece box with screw driver, rod, & mop, & 1 magazine. It is considered "early"; i.e., before any engineering revisions such as -1 or -2. It has the desirable cocking indicator, which was dropped later. Several barrel lengths were offered: 5" lightweight, 5 1/2" bull, 5 1/2" bull with Extendable Front Sight, & the desirable 7 3/8" (later replaced by the 7 1/2").

    Scarce accessories are the optional weight sets for the long barrel. One set had weights that screwed into a hole under the barrel, & held a false muzzle in place. A really scarce set had weights that clamped under the front of the barrel.

    S&W offered a similar gun, the M46, which had a coarser finish & plastic stocks. Not much cheaper than the M41, few were sold. Because of that, the M46 is now scarcer & more valuable than the M41.

    THANKS FOR THE INFO. YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST. THIS GUN IS 98% PLUS BOX, PAPERS. 2 CLIPS, 7&3/8 INCH BARREL WITH A BLUED STEEL ROD AND WHAT LOOKS LIKE A CLAMP FOR OVER THE BARREL. MUZZEL BREAK. NO TOOLS.CAN YOU GIVE ME A ESTIMATE OF VALUE ?? THANKS AGAIN

    41 - 60's...ooooo, nice gun d. hunter. grab it. its the only other gun i'd buy besides a hi standard. the hammereli 208 was modeled after it. s&w was first! watch out for those safeties. they can get clicked on by the web of your hand real easy. it could cost you the match during RF bulleyes shooting! btw...the trigger guard is the takedown lever. overall a very reliable, collectible and valuable gun. at least 800.00 to a 1000.00 on a good day.

    tell me more about the clamp? is it an external bbl weight maybe? btw...behind that muzzle break, there should be internal bbl weights in the empty cavity. see if its metal or alloy.

    ok is see. play on words....we're confusing the internal bbl wt with the 'counter wt.' what got me wondering was its not really a clamp on wt, it actually slides on onto grooves on the sides of the bbl and is kept in place with allen boss screws. i thought he was refering to something else when he said clamp on. clamp leads one to believe there is a working jaw on pivot or worm gear. ok....now, how many of you guys knew those internal bbl wts came in alloy and the external counter wts came in alloy as well? fyi....i sold all my counter wts and 41's 4 years ago. i got 550.00 for the counter wt assy. 800.00 for the alloy one. 450.00 just for the 7 3/8" bbl complete, 800.00 for the gun with a 5 1/2" sliding front blade in its box w/ papers. and....if you guys ever find a 4" bbl for a 41, call me. i want it!

    Bobski...I wonder if the clamp he's refering to is a scope mount?...B-Square use to make one that clamped onto the barrel. I've got both the alloy and steel internal weights...nice to find some other 41 fans.

    i guess we'll never know until he answers us. if it wasnt for that stupid safety switch, i would have kept mine. maybe we should tell him to check it to see if a bulleye shooter filed it down like most did! the rules state that the safety cant be removed or rendered inoperatable, so just enough use to be left to get it to pass LTI. btw....we all knew the 41's were in the military supply system, didnt we?

    nmyers,you're wrong about the engineering changes they were not marked 1 or 2.The mod 41-1 was a gun that fired the .22 short.They had changes but they were not marked by 41- anything.Not trying to be smart just FYI.
