My Savage Model 24, .22LR/.410, has no serial number. It was made between 1950-1965. If I sold it as a C&R, I'd need to be certain it was made no later than 1963.

It has the top of tang barrel release and right side button barrel selector.

Maybe someone can tell me the year of mfg. and provide a link to confirmation info.

    Thanks

There are some "Slip-on" versions available, but if yours is the model where you select the barrel on the hammer itself they don't work very well. Some of the 24's have the selector on the receiver, but I think they are relatively rare.

I am not aware of any hammer extensions made specifically for the M24. As bambihunter says, the barrel selector on the hammer is a problem.

The M24 originally came with a barrel selector button on the side of the receiver. These selectors were somewhat prone to failure, and so the hammer selector, also cheaper to manufacture, was introduced. No practical way to install the old style selector on the newer models.
