Forearm for Remington 740/742/7400
Can anyone positively tell me if a wood forarm from a Remington model 742 or 7400 semi-auto rifle will correctly fit on the earlier 740 model? If so, does anyone have one in a "standard" finish for sale to fit my Dad's 740?

you'll have to get a 740 forearm, the 742 and 7400 will not work with out modification. 0 -
You might check out a few gun smiths and gun shops for overly worn 740's. I was just in one the other day and an older fella came in with his. It seems the reciever was soft on these and the lock up gets worn/galled so that it isn't safe to shoot any more. You might be able to buy the entire retired gun or parts from it for less. 0 -
I don't have my catalog here so I don't know for sure but you may be able to get them through "Boyds". They will give you the option to buy just the forearm also.
