Ok I found a trade in on my Bryco

Bad thing is they're only willing to give me $25 max and that really sucks.But I'd rather lose money than risk using this gun for self protection.I seen another "cheap" .380 which is a Lorcin.Can anyone tell me anything about this brand? Because I couldnt find any of the suggested handguns at my local pawn shops or gun stores and I dont want to wait for shipping if I order online.So can you guys please help me on what you know about a Lorcin before I make the trade in...Thanx

    SAVE YOUR $ TILL YOU CAN AFFORD SOMETHING BETTER. BOTH ARE P.O.S. YOU CAN GET A CZ52 (IN 7.62 TOKAREV) FOR AROUND $150 AND SURPLUS AMMO IS CHEAP AND PLENTIFUL. THERE ARE MANY OTHER CHOICES IN THE UNDER $200 CATAGORY THAT I'M SURE OTHERS WILL CHIME IN WITH.

    chorkie's right; the Lorcin may be a slightly better POS, but, still, it's a POS.

    I also live in an area where there aren't any decent gun shops. For us, there are only 2 options: 1) drive a long way to find a good gun shop, or 2) find a local "vest pocket" dealer & order from someone who has exactly what you want in stock.

    You were given good suggestions on your previous post. To that list I'd add the CZ50/70; it's only a .32 auto, but it's reliable & I got one for < $100.

    And don't forget the Makarov. If you get 25 for the jennings from a dealer you are doing good. Most don't even want them at any price.

    If ya gotta go with a "pot metal" pistol go with a High Point. But if you can go a bit higher look into the Bulgarian Makarov or a Hungarian PA-63 or as previously mentioned a Czech CZ-70 or CZ-52.

    Be patient, save money, buy a decent used gun, Be happy. I could own a thousand guns if I wanted to own garbage, instead I own a much smaller quanity, consisting of a much higher quality. Often times it takes months for me to get that next gun, and sometimes I'll have money on two guns at the same time, but eventually I get what I want. Us poor guys just have to be patient. Most gun dealers will let you put money down on a gun and just make payments until you're paid off, and can do the paperwork. Just get on a good level with the gun store and be loyal to that gunstore, I.E. buy ammo, targets, and all the gun widgets from the same guy, and they'll treat you right. I don't spend a fortune at my gun shop, but when I walk in the door, he knows I'm going to spend something, nine times out of ten he's right, the rest of the time I'm just checking up on my guns that I'm still paying on.

    Shipping is not very time consuming,and getting a decent gun is time well spent as opposed to buying any of the ones that MrMike mentioned.They are all JUNK.
    IF I remember correctly the Makarovs' can be fitted with a .380 barrel if yo wanted to,but the surplus ammo available for them is pretty darned affordable.I've never ever heard a bad report on a Mak.
    Breathe easy and take a little time to round up a good one,you'll come out ahead.

    JohnnyMo, since no one else has recommended a revolver, I will. You can pick up a high quality used S&W ex-police gun for the money. I generally recommend revolvers as first time handguns anyway, as they are easier to handle and more reliable in the hands of a novice.

    If any dealer will give you anything for your cheapie, better take it (or use it for a paperweight).

    I was just at the gun shop and he had a nice Russian Markarov in 380 with adjustable sites for $169.00. These are nice guns for the money and can be found if you look around. The problem you will have in buying a cheap handgun, if you buy one from the auction is shpping fees. Figure 15-30 for shipping and the receiving dealer will charge 20-30. Now you are looking at adding another 35-60 to the cost. Just wait and save your money. The dealer will get a good cheap used gun in time or you will save more money and get something better.
