im gonna take a stab at it. it looks like an early roper/winchester pump circa 1884. if it were a true roper it would have a small rubber forearm. but this one has a wooden corn cobb syle forearm. i believe this is an early takeover gun after the period in which roper lost his court case against winchester. it may be a gun that started out as a roper and was finished as a winchester 1885 style pump, which then became the 1897 style pump. help me out, winchester fans!

I believe it's a latter model Spencer Arms Company shotgun, that was made by Bannerman's after they bought out S.A.C. in 1890.
Roper was the co-patentee with Spencer for these pump action shotguns, they were only made for a relatively short period of time in the 1880's, ( by the S.A.C. ) before they had financial difficulties and sold out to Bannermans.0 -

ok, ok, spencer-roper slide action shotgun circa late 1800's. the dead givaway is the reversed recocking trigger used for trying again on the old BP shells. give it to your local P>D> and get 50.00 for a turn in! 0 -
Or a paint srirrer..............No, I think they probably have it correct above.........but a soaking in diesel fuel, then a lot of Break Free. 0 -
The trigger does make one think of Spencer/Bannerman, but, I have handled and owned several of the Spencer Guns, none of which had a "Hump-Back" it looks more like an early Ranger or perhaps a Marlin? 0
