Winchester 94

Hi, thankyou all for the welcome on my first post (old military rifles--- collectible or hunting) I now have another question. I recently purchsed a winchester model 94 (ser. # 4957187)in .30-.30 caliber for busting brush on deer drives. It has almost 100% bluing everywhere except reciever, and the wood is in almost new condition. What I would like to know is if there are any common problems with these guns, anything that i can do to keep problems from arising (other than routine maintenance), and if $170 at the pawn shop was a good deal. Thanks, Red
P.s-is there a way of touching up the bluing on the reciever myself

    Looks like it was made in '81. How good the price is depends mostly on condition, but I see a lot of really ratty ones asking $150. Not many problems on these if you keep them clean and well maintained.

    I bought a model 94 about 4 years back in .44 mag, and nothing jammed it. My brother had a box of chells that said .44 mag on it, but really they were .41 mag. So i grabbed 1 not even checking the stamp and fired 1 through the rifle. Even firing the different caliber didnt effect this great little gun.

    P.S....The .41 mag made a funny poppin noise and didnt get very far.
    That should get u in a goog mood.
