cleaning ?
The tongue lashing I remember most was the one my dad gave me for not cleaning my gun. Now, 40 years later I still probably clean too much / often , and I have probably passed that on to my boys.
Cleaning some auto rifles from the breach sometimes means 'bowing' the cleaning rod, probably riding it against bore somewhere along the line. Can you clean from the crown and avoid damage with f'glass + plastic rods ?
And how to clean a revolver other than from the crown.
On our auto handguns, is 4 strokes w/bronze brush not needed after an afternoon of about 400 rounds?
(Sorry guys, but I don't know if I can leave a 22 auto rifle dirty 'till it stops cycling.)

There are a couple of brands of cleaning rod that come with a "bore guide"; this protects the bore near the muzzle when you clean it.
Cleaning will vary with the type of bullet, powder & velocity of the load. I use a Dewey lead remover on my revolvers when leading gets too tough.
