Just wanted to thank you gentlemen for your opinions and advice.
It would seem that the Ruger and Buck Mark lead the way. I happen to like the Browning a bit better, but both guns are excellent.

Hey can anyone help me out? I was given a 22 pistol and am not sure how old or the make or what 22 rounds you can fire in it. It has the following on the top -L.J. target sealed 8 LJ.A. & C.WKS Fitchburg Mass. USA- Has a square button on the back side and inside the trigger guard, not sure what for, but it does move when you pull the hammer back. Loads like a single action but it is a double action, only way I see to unload it would be to remove the cylinder. I would appreciate any help I can get on this. Thanks

Believe your pistol was assembled in the U S from parts fabricated in Germany. The time period would be the early to mid 90's. The German parts supplier went out of business in the late 90's and American Arms itself ceased business in 2000.
The above, doesn't bode well for the value of your pistol as it's essentially an orphan now.
As long as your happy with though, that is all that matters.
Try to obtain extra magazines and essential spare parts now, as they might prove difficult to get in the future.0 -
i'd kept the rifle but a good trade is when both parties are happy - seems too many post what they've done instead of what the should do (me too)[xx(]

Blue Book #24 says your P-98 (did you misread the number?) was made from 1990 to 1996 and is worth $125 in 95% condition. How well you did would depend on the condition of the Springfield sporter you traded and to what extent it had been sporterized. The best way to be about trades is, if you feel good about it when the trade is made, never look back![:D]Kind of a restatement of what Manchie said. 0
