ruger red label--GIFT

my beatiful wife got me a ruger red label for our anniversary--bought used from a good freind who is a pwnbroker--anyway, loaned it to astore manager of mine and he took it pheasant hunting in south dakota--comes back to tell me its broken--safety wont slide and you cant change barrels from top to bottom (selector switch) feels as if it is two pieces--does antone know if i have a major problem or something minor--any help appreciated

eat right ---excersize---die anyway

    First, don't panic, it may be very minor if that. Second, if I remember the selector moves laterally for selecting which barrel. Finally, Ruger is a very reliable company, so they would be the best source for any needed repairs.

    Steven..... I have a red label that was previously owned by Col Charlie Beckwith of Special Forces fame. I bought it from his family after he passed away.

    After a couple years it completely froze up on me. I mailed it to Ruger. They went thru it and not only fixed the problem, but replaced some other parts they felt were worn.

    They returned it in a new Ruger shotgun box at no charge including shipping. Now thats service.

    Iam sure you will get the same service.

    I still think you don't have a problem...............he does. Ruger is too good to panic. As the others said I think Ruger will get you out of this unfortunate situation as good as or better than most. Get in contact with the factory. I would bet you will have it back very quickly and in top shape.

    Do as instructed. You have one of the finest scatterguns made today... At any price. Ruger will take good care of you.

    Don't put a personal item like this in someone else's hands for any reason. A Remington 870 is one thing. A Red Label is entirely another.
    It's a very personal and expensive gift. That, and it'll be around for your son, his son, and perhaps generations after.
