Taurus mod. 608 & 65

[?]Hi Guys, Barney & I need some questions answered.
City Hall is going to buy Barney a new gun for
Christmas, They like the Taurus Model 608 or model 65,
The question is, well either models shoot 38 sp.
even that are 357. Mag's, I say yes but Barney says
no? I think he just wants a bigger bullet in his
pocket to impress the girls.[^]

  I don't know the model 65, but the 608 is a 357 and as such can shoot 38 specials. However Barney better be a big dude or he going to be leaning to one side if he has to carry that 608. It's a handful.

  I have a Taurus 608 with the 6" heavy vent rib barrel and it is a beast for a .357. Yes it will shoot 38's and 357's. However, I would not advise shooting any hotloaded .357's through the 608 as the cylinder walls in each chamber are rather thin. But any 38 spl will work in it.
  
  It is as accurate as any other factory stock .357 mag and I have never had problems with mine except when I bought some cheapo ammo at a gunshow and I couldn't get any consistency with it even at 20 yards. But that goes for any gun.

  Gotta stainless 8" 608 to go with my 607 2"; great guns, smooth factory trigger, great warranty, good sights. Drawbacks are the cylinder release thumbpiece screw backs out after only 40 rds., the ejector rod unscrews under recoil, and locks up the cylinder to where you can't open it without getting really creative, and the comp holes cover the front sight with crap.
  I use the 608 for silo competition with handloads; it's almost as good as the T/C's!

  I've never had any of those problems with my 608. Even after about 350 rounds through it everything on it is still tight. However, I do agree about the compensator holes in the top of the barrel on either side of the front blade. They do cover it with a lot of residue and crud.
