I haven't seen the side mount, but have used the scout mount from b-square. It was as good as any other scount mount I have used. As far as ethics of cutting up these MN's, there are millions here in the importers warehouses, Millions more waiting on the docks to be shipped, and Many more sitting arround russias warehouses and in its satelite republics that have been forgotten for the present. Unless it is perfect, very early(pre 1917), and has lots of proofs on it(eagles); I say where's my hacksaw?

My border collie is smarter than your honor student.

The second URL was the one. Thanks. $149.00 for a scope mount? Hmmmm.... sounds like I will be getting this from Santa this year. LOL

Do you know if this dealer will sell to non-law enforcement?

    Thanks again. [:)]

By and large I dislike seeing the old military guns chopped up. I have a beautiful old Swedish Mauser that I have been debating about drilling and tapping, and bending the bolt, for a few years. Damn it is a beautiful rifle, but I can't see well enough to hit without a scope. There were only 850,000 Swede Mausers made.
The Russkies made 19 million Mosin Nagants, and they aren't as pretty as a Swede Mauser anyway. Where's my hacksaw?

On chopping up the old rifles, it kills me to see what some guys have done to them. I am an historian - as in my real-life, no kidding job - and there is a professional part of me that rues the idea of chopping a part of history. However, at the same time, there is a sportsman part of me - and an old man part of me - that wants and needs a scope on a rifle.

I appreciate your input into this thought.
