Baikal Side by Side Shot Gun
I'm looking at a Baikal side by side shot gun model: IZH-43E. I dont need an expensive shot gun just a good one the will last. What I have read tells me they are good. Does anybody have any info or experence with them?

if you want a sbs that is going to last, i would recommend you pay the extra money and make it a purchase that will last a lifetime. if you are looking for a sbs to beat around with, buy a used fox. good luck! 0 -
Yes I have 1 and just shot it the other day messin around with clay targets. The only problem I found after 100 rounds of #7.5 remington shells is the trigger. Now the prob is not a bad 1 as it can be fixed easy. The prob is the shape of the trigger itself. It was getting to the point of wearing a blister on my finger. Very uncommen for me as I shoot about 1000 rounds a week with diffarent guns. To fix the prob I put a small peice of plastic tube on the trigger . I did read on this site where someone else had to file the trigger down for the same reason.
hope this helps0 -
I have two Baikal shotguns, one sbs and o/u, shotgun/rifle to turkey hunt with. The only problem that I've had with either one, is I dry fired the 223 on an one fired case. The firing pin pierced the primer and broke. Sent it back and was replaced in less than 10 days. I have used the sbs to grouse hunt and shoot clays with for the last couple of years. Haven't had any trouble at all from it. From what I could find out about this company, it was the soviet equivilant of Remington or Winchester here. I took mine to a gunsmith that I trust, and he said that the inside mechanism could have been finished a little nicer, but nothing that would actually hamper the performance of the gun. Just my opinion, and you know they're just like armpits, everyone has them, and some of them stink!!!

I've seen and shot the O/U and functions/shoots fine. The earlier imports were rougher than the recent ones. Savage/stevens is importing one from Russia called the 411 that might be worth looking at. Otherwise, I own both a Fox B and a 311 and like both. Just ran into two nice 311's at the gun shop yesterday. My vote still goes to the Fox model B or stevens 311. Still nice shooters. 0 -
The Spanish Lanbers are VERY NICE O/U's. Best all around value right now.

I just bought one of these guns from the auction site, and should receive it in the next few days. I will email you with a full review after shooting it.
