weatherby athena grade III

I am thinking of buying a weatherby athena grade III from a friend of mine for $1300.00. I shoot clay targets with friends seven or eight times a year. The shotgun is in excellent shape.I was wondering if anyone can give me any information on this shotgun. Thank You, orion57

    Maybe I asked the wrong guestion I also do some bird hunting and I was wondering if this would be a good shotgun for the prise,or would my money be better spent else where. Thank You orion57

    weatherbys are just skb's imported under the weatherby name. yes, they are good guns, but you can trim off about 100-200.00 if you were to just buy an skb outright.

    Where I live, the resale isn't as good as a Browning or Beretta. If you like shooting the gun, OK. They never fit me as well. Shoot it first to see if you feel differently. I have seen them here in the past for 900 to 1100, but now they seem to have disappeared. I can't remember, but seems to me they were made for them by SKB. Still a good gun, just has a different feel than what I like.
