    Steve:
The Trooper was made from 1953 until 1969, when Colt started the "J" Frame series of guns, (MK III's). First of all, this gun in 98% condition with box and papers would definitely have a lot of "Collector" interest! This gun has the exact same action found on the Pythons of that same era and you can probably tell that if you have "dry-fired" it only once to see what kind of trigger it has......smooth, huh?

Back to the gun. Yes, these are definitely a "scarce" gun! Depending on what you are planning, this is definitely a "keeper."

According to the serial number you have provided here, gun was probably made in late January or early February, 1955......Yes! Sounds like you have found a very desireable one!

Here would be my valuation of this gun and a figure I would not have a problem paying myself based on your assessment of condition. I think $575 to $600 would be a "middle" price. If the gun is a little better or a little worse, some adjustment may be forthcoming. However, this would be in my area and you might have "Regional" price differences. Also, this price could be affected by a Collector's desire to own this gun and a figure of $700 could be realistic. Congrations on the find!

As usual. RP has it well covered. Put the Trooper on the auction site with some good pictures and see what it brings.

Thank you for the valuable information.
JudgeColt, I likely will do just that.
