ask your smith to silver solder and 'stake it.' before doing all of this, take advantage of being able to sight your gun in by moving your blade around! just tape it and pencil it where you think it should be. fire. so what if it falls off. go pick it up! just see if it is shooting where you want it and the mark will tell you where to put it when youre done testing. or, have it put back in the same place and ask the smith to rotate the bbl for you. might as well, the guns where it needs to be for a bbl adjustment. let the smith do it right and for good! no bending front sights anymore!

Bruce, forgive me if I've forgotten, but don't you live in the Springfield,Mo area? Go to Gunsmoke, on W. Chestnut. See Steve, the gunsmith there. He's done some work for me and is pretty good. By the way, they're having an auction there Nov. 30. 100 guns at a no-reserve auction, just in time for Christmas!

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

Or you can take the opportunity to have a new site dovetailed to the barrel that is adjustable if all this gun is going to be is a plinker/shooter.

Interesting possibility. Are you talking about the front sight? Where would I but that type sight or have it done? How expensive is it?
    Thanks.

Well, it depends on whether or not you got a "meaty" enough barrel for a dovetail cut on the end of it for a new sight. I suppose you could break down and have a rear adjustable sight attached as well.

You'd have to talk to a gunsmith for specifics for cost and type of sights.....everybody has a different price.
