    Could have been both; but let's give him the benefit of the doubt. You don't see the 48 Star flag every day anymore; but they're not really rare either.

    48 star flags go for anywhere from 5 to 50.00 depending on the condition. problem is...they arent as rare as people make them out to be. the ones that bring high dollars are the perfect condition flags that have hand sewn stars on silk, (not machined darned on cotton) the huge ones used for flag poles are the ones that are selling on ebay,(4x8,6x12,20x40,50x100,etc...,) not the home flags used by all of us and for burials,(i/e: hand helds, 2x5, 3x7.) the big ones are going for 50.00 to 75.00. condition sells. worn and faded dont move....unless it has history tied to it. remember, holiday flags will always command a premium over foul weather flags. hope i helped.
