WHICH MODELS ARE YOU LOOKING AT? THEY BOTH HAVE MANY GOOD THINGS GOING FOR THEM,JUST NOT ALL IN THE SAME AREAS.

I HAVE THE ECLIPSE II TARGET AND LOVE IT . I JUST BOUGHT A C-MORE SERENDIPITY SIGHT THAT I AM GOING TO MOUNT THIS NEXT WEEK WHEN I GO BACK TO WORK. THE GUN HAS RUN FLAWLESSLY SINCE I GOT IT LAST YEAR, I'VE PUT ABOUT 1000 RDS THROUGH IT SO FAR. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY DIRECT EXPERIENCE WITH THAT SPRINGFIELD MODEL THAT YOU LISTED BUT I HAVE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH TWO OTHERS , A PORTED V-10 WHICH I STILL HAVE AND AN OLDER BASIC COMPETITION MODEL, WHICH I SOLD. THE BC WAS SO-SO, IT TOOK ALOT OF TUNING TO GET IT RUNNING RIGHT, AND THE V-10 I LOVE EXCEPT THAT IT OCCASSIONALLY(SP?)PUTS THE FIRST SHOT DEAD CENTER AND THEN DROPS THE REST ABOUT 6-8 INCHES LOW ( I'M STILL WORKING ON THAT PROBLEM IF ANYONE HAS AN IDEA). HOPE THIS HELPS A LITTLE

From what I read on the board a couple of days ago, Kimber may be going bankrupt.

Never owned a Kimber, but bought (2) new Springfields, out of the box neither of them functioned.
The .45 was no big problem, just swapped magazines and it worked. They shipped it with a bum magazine.
The 9 x 23 was a different story, didn't extract! I was way pissed till I put in a Colt .38 Super extractor then it worked.
Neither one of the Springfields, appeared to me to have been test fired at the factory, prior to shipping!

Springfield has a lifetime warranty, and well you know they're gonna be around a while. My V-10 ultra compact (S.A.) works great, but this is after two broken swing link pins. My roommates TLE II (Kimber), although it's got lots of neat features, and all the bells and whistles, and at this point nearly 3000 rounds through it. I still wouldn't trust the kimber to carry. It's about to go back to the Kimber shop to get fixed, it has a wide variety of random malfunctions, the newest of the group is that the slide won't lock back when the weapon is dry. Most commonly with it is a failure to feed, and every now and then it doesn't like to eject the old brass. The roommate keeps swearing it's going back but won't get off his butt and do it. Once he does I'll post on how it works/ Kimber customer service.

the bottom line in my experience...i owned a springfield loaded model and shot a compareably equipped kimper and the only thing the kimber did was cost about $100 more.sold my sprngfld and bought a wilson and have been smiling ever since..if your budget mandates a sprngfld or kimber then i would go with the sprngfld because its the better value and in my OPINION as good as a kimber but cheaper

From what I read on the board a couple of days ago, Kimber may be going bankrupt.Springfield went bankrupt a few years back too ... bought all their own equipment back at auction for pennies on the dollar, built a new building just down the road (on the same street) and left all their creditors holding the bag ... Thats what their "Lifetime Warranty" did for them ... anyone can put $h!t in a box and warranty it ...

On the same note, I've been hearing more about Kimber quality problems ever since the Kimber II line was introduced ... nor have I bought one since that time ... and unless your looking at one of the pre II's, I don't reccomend them anymore.

    Hmmm...

Springfield = American owned company building it's 1911's in Brazil using Brazillian labor.

Kimber = American owned company using American labor.

    I own a Kimber.
