What type of Shotgun for under $300?

A friend wants a shotgun for Pheasants but does not know what type to get. It will be his first gun and he wants something reliable that will last.



I do not hunt birds so I need some help. What are your suggestions?

    Well for under $300.00 a mossberg 500 or save a few more dollars and buy a new benelli nova. i am sure a few others will have suggestions shortly.

    mossberg 500 are go to a pawnshop are gun store that sells used guns.

    remington 870 youe can geta new one at wally world for that or a used one at a gun shop

    Remington 870 express , these are selling in my area new for as little as $229 with wood stock , they come with a 28" vent rib barrel with 1 mod. screw in choke tube , very good gun for the money

    870 express. agree on pawn shop gu. cheap is cheap, and you can haggle the price down even more.

    Remington 870 wing master, you can get a Good Used one for under $300.00 You will never be sorry.[:D][:D]

    Mossberg 500 or 835....I have the 835, and its been trouble free, good shootin.....for about 350, you can get yourself a Baikal over/under...picked one up in 3 inch mag 20 gauge, shootsgoood, handles good.....not the prettiest gun, but its been reliable....

    Used. I have a semi-auto Winchester 1400 - 20g. My first, so i have nothing to compare it to.
    But it's a fun gun. Ammo is a little steep. Rather have a 12 also.

    i bought 2 remington 870 supermags, one was a nWTH model both NIB 279.00 each & i have a moss 500, the remington although both had issues are much nicer guns, my shooting buddy has a binelli wally model, i dont like the plastic stock as part of the reciever but it shoots nice.
