Hot barrel ????????
For about a year I been real heavy into target shooting ...
100-500 yards ...... My two main guns are a .270 A-Bolt SS and
a Encore 25-06 heavy-barrel ..... Just how hot is too hot for accurate shooting an/or how hot it too hot for the barrel in
general .... I shoot three shot groups , three times then let it cool
for 15 minutes or so ...... It's really bad in the summer with the temp around 100 degrees ...........[?][?]

I know if I zero in during hot weather my point of impact changes when it gets cooler. I try to zero in at a temp close to what I'll be hunting at. I don't know if the weather can get too hot for shooting, if I don't let mine cool between shots even in moderate temps the barrels still get hot.

If they're still moving, put another round in them!

Where I live, heat is a problem 9 months of the year!
If you can comfortably hold your hand on the barrel without having to remove it due to heat, it is still cool enough to shoot. If uncomfortable, set it aside in the shade and let cool, with bolt/action open for circulation.
I take a 12 pac cooler along containing frozen hand towels. If the ambient temp's won't allow for air cooling fast enough, I'll unfold one of the towels and wrap around the barrel and include the chamber area of the receiver. As these towels absorb the heat and become just damp and cool, I'll swap them out with another from the cooler and place that one around my neck to cool the shooter down!
An old black powder cartridge shooter trick is to also take a tube of plastic pipe (the soft stuff) and blow into the breech to clear the heated barrel atmosphere.

Another concern you may want to have about temperature is if you are shooting max loads, an increase in ambient temperature may take the pressure over max. 0 -
Thanks guys for the tips ..........
