best low priced scope brands?
I would like to know who makes the best low priced scopes, for $100 or less? I have a very limited budget, but need a decent scope for an AR15. Any openions would be appreciated even if it was just what brands to avoid.

Simmons, Tasco(out of business), Bushnell all make ok scopes for under $100. But like everything else, you get what you pay for. Thats not to say that a $75 Bushnell won't give you years of trouble free service, but the optics are just not as good as a higher end scope.

I believe Bushnell has reintroduced the Tasco line of scopes. From my experience, the Tasco World Class scopes were great buys until they moved manufacture to China. Quality went down the toilet then. I have not had any experinece with the new Bushnell-Tascos so can not comment on their quality.
The Simmons 44 Mag and Whitetail scopes seem to be good buys and have good optics for the money. Nikon has a new Pro-Staff 3-9x for just a little over $100.00 that is a great buy in my opinion. You might also search the auction sites for a good used scope of better quality than the el cheapos.0 -
I have three 3x9x40 Bushnell Site-Lite scopes. These are made for Bushnell by Bosch & Lomb. They have a lifetime warranty and very good optics. They also have an illiminated red dot at the intersection of the crosshairs that is great for low light shooting or shooting Black Bear or Moose were it can be hard to find your crosshairs. This model of scope is discontiued I believe but there is always some an the gun shows. Like I said I have three of them and they have been flawless. Money well spent in my case!

I would never recommend a cheap scope to anyone. There will be a day when it won't hold zero or fogs up, and I don't want you to remember, "this is the scope Rafter-S recommended."
Go with a Leupold. You have a $800 rifle. Don't put a $50 scope on it.
My 2-cents worth (which you will ignore),

I quite agree with RafterS but would choose Burris over Leupold. Personal taste. You will likely replace a cheap scope in a year or two, so it seems money wasted, but if you know and accept that going in, I would look at Bushnell. I started there, and they gave good service for the priced, though I have replaced all and now they are in a box.

My Tasco World Class 4x12x40 is just as clear as my
Leupold VariX II 3x9x50.How it holds up,only time
will tell.Haven't had either one very long.
