    What is a "tactical gun". How would one of those compare to a "strategic gun"?

    What is a "strategic gun"?

    Unless you're artful, cunning, and penetrating. Put the other person on the defense always and learn his motives. I've learned this over and over working in Philadelphia for realtors

    When I had to carry a gun all of the time. We alway said it was what you had in your hand when you needed it most. My choice was a 45 auto, Model 1911-A1. You can put a man down with one shot. 9mm ??? there is a reason they have large magazines. They won't put a man down with one shot unless you hit the spine. Head shots don't always work with a 9mm either. I worked with a officer who always said shoot them in the balls. It usally will change there train of thought. Also under the shirt vests don't go that low. Think about this: If your shot is off you break their Leg. If your shot is on, now then they only have two legs from now on. If you have a laser sight and put it on their chest they think about it. If you put on their balls they worry about it. Smile[:D] [:0]

    If you have to use a nite stick and break their arm, you make them mad.[:(!] If you flatten there nuts they won't run and they seem to do anything you want without question but just not very fast.[^]

    That's a lot of attitude for a newer member. [}:)]

    A strategic weapon would be something like an atomic bomb...unless it were a tactical nuke, unless, of course, you shot a dictator with a .45 which would make that strategic, unless they weren't operational in which case you better come up with another tactic. [:p]

    I think we ought to refer this to Dr. Saxon Peag. for further psychological investigation in the event the "heinous three" parameters coincide, thus giving our new member the dubious moniker of a yellow flag.

    Strategy and tactics have long been studied. Patton could talk for weeks on this one topic.

    Strategy
    1. military planning of war: the science or art of planning and conducting a war or a military campaign
    2.? planning in any field:? a carefully devised plan of action to achieve a goal, or the art of developing or carrying out such a plan

    Tactics
    1. military direction of forces in battle: the science of organizing and maneuvering forces in battle to achieve a limited or immediate aim
    2. finding means to end: the art of finding and implementing means to achieve particular immediate or short-term aims

    The 1911 I posted is a souped-up version of the SA TRP, Tactical Response Pistol.
    Tactics - Get them out. Alive.

    A strategic weapon might be better screening at points of entry into secure areas, whether a building or a continent.

    I don't consider myself an expert at precision shooting ... but that hasn't stopped anyone else from responding so here goes ... [:p]

    The M70 SPR A1 looks like a nice piece but ... IMHO, it seems to be over-priced. Do you really want a single shot? Also its curious that they use a chrome lined barrel ... while thats a good thing on a battle rifle, I don't think I'd want that on a precision rifle ...

    I don't know what a "M700 Remington AE, Mauser" is ... I can't find one listed on the auction side or Remington's web site so I can't make a comparison ... most heavy barrel varmint rifles, such as the Remington VS VLS VSSF (ect) will out shoot the average shooter ... something like this will probably serve you well until you have advanced to a stage you can really appreciate the nuances of "tactical" features ...

    =====================================================

    Doug Wilson - Why be an A$$ and give the newbie a hard time?

    Just to humor you, I'll answer your question; My opinion of "Tactical" is that it's just a buzz work used by marketers to describe modified features for improved handling and/or faster deployment/operation ... kinda like this "Large Tactical Bolt Handle Knob" .

    If you have different thoughts, please share them .

    =====================================================

    bambihunter - Looks like hes just giving what he gets!

    =====================================================

    jsergovic - He's obviously asking about a rifle, not a handgun ... in what way are you contributing anything to this thread with your personal problems with other members?

    just to add to jsergovic's perfect answer, taking them out alive isnt always the goal. sometimes 'taking them out dead' is a goal too. also, to ask 'whats the perfect tactical weapon' is a mute point, since proper tactics usually require more than one type of weapon to achieve a goal. the mission determines best choice of weapon too. thats why they have 'teams,' not individuals......unless youre hollywood and one guy does it all. i/e: lest we forget, a box cutter was the best tactical weapon for the bad guys mission.....on 9/11.
