Sako 222 Cal. Rifles
I am interested in buying one of the older sako rifles in 222 caliber. The problem is, I don't know much about the history of the different models. Any info from first hand experience about accuracy, and all the pros and cons would be appreciated.

I am very familar with the older Sako's, but not sure if you asked anything specific, so in general:
Great action, I don't think you'll find a smoother bolt system, I've never had a hang up with reload or any factory. Headspace on mine (I own 9) has always been on the minimum. Very accurate, good wood.
One miner problem found on 2 guns was that as they heated from firing the wood touched the barrel and would walk right about 1" per shot at 100 yds. This was fixed on both by an Old German Gunsmith and has not reocurred, no problems with the others.
I highly recommend the guns. They are a high quality, reasonable priced weapon. Parts are sometimes hard to find if you want all original, and I'm not sure standard scope rings fit (I bought Sako rings with each rifle, but have never checked aftermarket). Never used the peep sights that came with them, but was told they are execellent.
Good shooting investment if purchased at the right price, don't know about investment for selling in the future.
You can't go wrong unless someone abused the weapon or it's just out of line on the price. If looking to hold for value, try to find pre'72 models, most likely a "Vixen" in .222.0 -
One of the most sucessful deer hunters I have ever known used a Sako 222 with the peep sight. 0
